Conquering Fear and Taking Action…

Most people are so scared of failing, that they let fear destroy them and they live their lives ‘wishing’ for better times.

I know that you’re ready to STRETCH yourself.

I know you believe NOW is your time.

Am I right or am I really right?

Remember: You don’t have to get it perfect, you just have to get it going.

Get off your tail and SPRINT to GREATER ACTION starting right now.

It you haven’t already, now is the time to take massive action.

I won’t accept anything but the best effort from you…and I hope you don’t accept anything less than that from yourself, because I know you can do this - I know you have greatness within you and it’s dying to come out.

Raise the level of what you’ll accept from yourself and from your life.

Take ACTION TODAY! Visualize yourself being a bestselling author. See yourself signing books for a long line of people.  Get excited.  If you LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES along the way you will reach your goal.

You were born to be GREAT.  Listen to that again - You were born to be great.

You were born to share what you have in your head and in your heart through your books.

Ask yourself this question…

What is one action I could take today that’s a stretch for me, but I know it would help me reach my goal?  Write the answer down here:

…then take action - take massive action!!!

And if You Fall Off The Plan (miss a day of writing, screw up on a teleseminar, etc), Than Forgive Yourself and Immediately Get Right Back On It.”

I want to end this 52nd lesson with a quote from Jim Rohn that goes like this:

He says that all men and women suffer pains throughout their life…

“You either suffer the pains of discipline or the pains of regret.
The BIG difference is that discipline weight ounces…
regret weight tons.”

Whether or not you condition yourself to take action every day is completely up to you.

However, those who “suffer” the pains of daily discipline WILL enjoy all the applicable results.  Those who find reasons to avoid the daily/weekly action steps that we discussed will always suffer the consequences and frustrations associated with a lack of persistent appropriate action.

If you haven’t yet begun, than forgive yourself, and begin now.

Don’t wait for anything or anyone.

Move forward confidently towards your goal - always keeping that vision of yourself as a bestselling author in your head, and always moving in that direction.

I have full faith in you all.  I know you have a bestseller within you.  And I’m proud of you for making it to the end of this program.

I hope you keep me up to date and that you send me an autographed copy of your book as soon as it comes out and if you do - know that it’ll be proudly placed in my private library among all the other greats - and know that when my friends come by, I’ll show them your book.

This was a big one for me… To overcome fear, we can start small by writing articles or features for publication.

This will give us time to gain confidence and also improve our craft.

Then we can take a plunge to write a thin book first.

You hit a sensitive note here.

Fear is an important issue addressed here that needs to be taken seriously.

It’s held me back in the past - and I’m sure it’s held a lot of others back as well.

    Thanks for the help!

I’ve noticed that many of my fellow writing friends, and me as well, that fear will take a grip and prevent us from put all our ideas out there. Fear of thinking it won’t be ” good enough” is a strong emotion. Is there any tips you can give for how to get over this?

  4. liowkc Says:

There is nothing to fear except fear itself.

If we can conquer our fears and take the first difficult step no matter how small or insignificant step, half the battle is won.

  5. Spanky Says:

It hasn’t really been fear than has stopped me in the pass from getting things done, it the time, you know waiting for the right time when other things will be completed thus freeing up some time.

  6. Mica Says:

Spanky, I think in Chris eyes, that just as bad, because you are still not getting the job done. Nothing but the best is good enough.

  7. Kenny Says:

I have a similar problem, with the work pressures and with other areas of life it seem almost impossible to have time dedicated to such a venture, but I think we must make the effort, it can only be good for us.

  8. Corrine Says:

I think my fear lies in the presentations and teleseminar, I am asking myself the question , will they believe me, will they take action, will they succeed? The questions go on and on.

  9. Melonie Says:

But as Chris said we aught to move consciously and deliberately towards our goal, always keeping in mind the vision of being a bestseller. That I think will work for me.

  10. Mica Says:

Another important point to note is that if we fall off track, we should get right back up and continue, not missing a beat. Not feeling discouraged about negative results.

This is an excellent post. I think it is very important to take action. This is more important than conquering fear. A lot of people have great ideas, but just do not do anything about it, and then what happens? The idea fades away. This pretty much always results in people regretting not doing anything when they realize what they have missed. So I say stop beating around the bush, take some action.

Wow, you hit the nail on the head with this one. Fear. I was raised in an environment of intense fear and being afraid was taught to us to survive. I have spent the last several years learning to step out through my fears and conquering them. My mother has already written a book, but it is just sitting there. She keeps saying that she is going to get it published but it is still sitting in her house. I am determined to not be like that.

  13. ghuraba_t Says:

I agree with mamtito. Many of us grow up in an environment of fear. We are taught to care so much about how people will react and how to please people that we often neglect what we truly want and this results in many people leading unhappy lives. Most people never realize their potential due to this fear. I think people should be more encouraged to think for themselves as it is very important for success in any endeavour.

  14. mamatito33 Says:

It can go even further than that. Sometimes if we aren’t careful we wake up to realize that we have spent so many years trying to please someone else that we don’t even know for sure who we are and what it is that we really want to do. Our fear is compounded with confusion and simply being uncomfortable in trying to step out for ourselves.

  15. attagirl Says:

Once you start writing on a regular basis you learn to release any fear and take the chance on any topic. I think that fear is a natural part of anything until you are so used to doing it that it becomes second nature. You have to consider what you are writing about and how touchy the topic could be. When you have topics that no one really touches on there is always a tendency to be afraid because you are not sure how people will respond to it.
